Test Day Fee
Your test day fee is separate from the DVSA booking fee. This charge covers the use of the instructor’s dual-controlled vehicle for your practical exam, the necessary insurance, and your instructor’s professional time.
Standard Practical Test: £120 Our standard fee applies to all tests within an 8-mile driving distance of your pickup location.
What is included: You receive a 60-minute warm-up lesson immediately before your test, the use of the instructor’s vehicle for the exam, and your return journey.
Transparent Pricing: We do not charge “unsocial hours” premiums for early morning, weekend, or evening test slots. The price remains £120 regardless of the time of day.
Extended Practical Test: £150 This fee applies if a court has ordered you to take an extended driving test.
Why the difference: These exams last 60 minutes rather than the standard 40. The £150 fee covers the additional time the instructor and vehicle are required for the exam.
What is included: A 60-minute warm-up lesson, the 60-minute test, and your return journey.
Additional Time and Distance
Out-of-Area Tests: If your test centre is more than 8 miles from your pickup point, your instructor may charge for the extra travel time. This is calculated on a pro-rata basis at the standard hourly rate and must be agreed upon before your test day.
Extra Tuition: If you request more than a one-hour warm-up lesson before your exam, this extra time is charged at the standard hourly rate.
Important Note The DVSA charges its own fee (currently £62 on weekdays or £75 for weekends) to book the examiner. The Wimbledon Driving School test day fee is a separate charge for the provision of the car and instructor
