Learn to make decisions with time to spare

It is easy to concentrate so hard on the controls that you miss what is happening further along the road. Learning to look ahead helps you prepare for a stop or turn before it becomes urgent.

Tell us which parts of driving feel difficult. You might be starting from scratch, returning after a gap or already comfortable with the basics. We will plan your first lesson around that experience and agree where to begin.

Lesson choices

Find the lesson format that works for you

Choose manual or automatic tuition, then discuss how you want to spread out your lessons. We will check availability against the days and times you request.

Learning manual

Manual driving lessons

Bring clutch control and gear changes into your driving without losing track of traffic. Moving away smoothly is one part of it; choosing a gear early enough for a turn is another.

Explore manual lessons

Learning automatic

Automatic driving lessons

With no manual gear changes to make, you can concentrate on steering, speed and observation. Practise judging the space you need and using the pedals smoothly in changing traffic.

Explore automatic lessons

Intensive courses

Intensive driving courses

An intensive course puts lessons closer together. Tell us how much driving you have done and how much time you can set aside, so we can discuss a course that fits your starting point.

On-road confidence

Driving situations to watch for in Earlsfield

A road sign, a stopping bus and a person waiting to cross each call for a different response. These local situations show why good observation matters as much as handling the car.

Learner practising steady steering in a car

Anticipate buses on Garratt Lane

Buses serve Earlsfield station on Garratt Lane. Watch for a bus slowing towards its stop and leave room to see beyond it. Before changing position to pass, check your mirrors and the space ahead rather than following the car in front automatically.

Watch for people at the Magdalen Road junction

At the junction of Magdalen Road and Tranmere Road, school arrivals and departures can bring more people to the roadside. Reduce your speed on approach and look into the road you intend to enter. Be ready to wait while people cross, keeping the junction clear.

Read the School Street signs before turning

Tranmere Road has a School Street between Magdalen Road and Waynflete Street. Motor access is restricted at the signed times, with limited exemptions. Check the signs before committing to a turn so you can choose another permitted road without a hurried manoeuvre.

Choose a parking space carefully on Magdalen Road

Around Earlsfield Library, there is standard on-street parking and designated Blue Badge parking. Check which type of bay you are approaching and read its signs before deciding to park.

I took lessons with Arsh from Wimbledon Driving School after a disappointing experience with another provider. From the start, Arsh was patient, reassuring, and highly knowledgeable, which completely transformed my confidence behind the wheel. Thanks to his guidance and support, I’ve now passed my driving test. I’m very grateful for everything he’s done and would highly recommend him to anyone learning to drive.

Just passed 1st try! Cameron Phoenix (my grade A instructor) was amazing. He was very patient with me every lesson, his car was great to drive. I’ve already recommended Cameron to one of my friends and my younger brother and would urge anyone looking to pass their test to use Cameron as their instructor. Thank you Cameron, I wouldn’t have able to pass without you

Are manual and automatic lessons available in Earlsfield?

Wimbledon Driving School offers both. Let us know your preferred gearbox and lesson times so we can check instructor availability.

Can I arrange collection from home, work or college?
